In the past, I spent a lot of time feeling like a freak over it - especially since many of the simple methods recommended online did nothing for me during my attacks. It's of course not the healthiest or the most pleasant way of dealing with things but when things are very rough, it might be what my body needs to do. If this RIDE method doesn't work for you, it doesn't mean that you're beyond help.Ī panic attack, at least for me, is sometimes my brain's way of processing what it's overwhelmed by. Sometimes, the attack can be overwhelming and the only thing to do can be to ride it out.

I don't mean to contradict OP and I'm sure that the information about RIDE will be helpful for many people reading it.īut as someone who has lived with panic attacks for the better part of a decade now, you should also know that getting through a panic attack is hardly "simple" and that none of these things might work sometimes.

If you try this and it works for you too then spread the word so people can feel better :) Sorry to post a long thing but whenever I see stuff about panic attacks I post this as it helped me. He says acting like you don’t care and challenging yourself like this makes the panic lose its power. He says when you feel the symptoms starting, say to yourself, (in your head or out loud but he says out loud works best in his opinion) “BRING IT ON! Come on then body, do your worst, give me the worst panic attack you can muster. He said fear of another panic attack and how it will feel makes you much more likely to have one, you fear the symptoms starting and you think “oh no, not again oh god” and feel tense and anxious and then have a panic attack again. In case it helps anyone seeing this I’ll explain what he said. He says you can stop panic attacks forever by doing this and I haven’t had one for about 5-6 years now. What helped me was a technique I read about in the Linden Method. "To Fear or Not to Fear, You're in Control"
